The Upton Microphones C12 Microphone is a faithful recreation of the vintage AKG C12 tube microphone of the early to mid 1960's. This shimmering airy microphone is perfect for vocals, pianos, drum overhead and room, as well as acoustic guitar and other acoustic stringed instruments.
The Upton Microphones C12 sets out to provide an authentic recreation of the AKG C12, whic is considered by many to be one of the greatest microphones ever produced. The single layer of coarse mesh on the headbasket allows.for transparent audio capture, since the double layer found on the 251 tends to promote high frequency reflections inside of it, leading to a slightly artificially hyped top end. The microphone also features point to point wired turret circuitry with 12AY7 tube, point to point wired turret power supply as well with polar pattern selection on the PSU itself. All brass framing is milled and tooled in-house at Upton. Dallas' signature reconstruction of the CK12 all brass capsule is made to spec such that the parts can be interchanged with vintage AKG counterparts. Includes 20' Gotham or Mogami tube mic cable complete with their custom made swivel mount: all milled and tooled in-house. The only thing Upton doesn't do is smelt their own brass.
