What We Think

avatar

The Sphere DLX microphone is awesome! Universal Audio did an excellent job emulating the character of so many famous microphones we all know and love. There are a ton of microphone models to choose from. I love that with the Sphere plugins, you can decide whether to record through the emulations using the UA Console app, or apply them after recording in your DAW. Also, the Sphere 180 software allows you to change helpful parameters like the polar pattern, adjust proximity effect, and make off axis corrections. Even if you’re not a fan of modeling microphones, I would suggest considering this for harmonies and doubles. Having the ability to switch microphone models and layer tones on vocal stacks can add nice separation and depth to your mix! The cool thing about the DLX versus its little brother the LX, is that it’s stereo – meaning you’re able to use different microphone models and control the parameters for the front and back of the microphone independently! Check out the Universal Audio Sphere DLX, you won’t be disappointed!
