The Summit Audio 2BA-221 Preamp is a continuously variable impedance microphone, line and instrument preamp with polarity, pad and level control. Featuring mic level, line level, and Hi-Z instrument inputs, the 2BA-221 utilizes separate and individually controlled solid state inputs to mix the mic input with the Hi-Z or line input into the variable vacuum tube stage.
The Summit Audio 2BA-221 Preamp allows you mix the signals through the 12AX7A/ECC83 vacuum tube output or output them separately through multiple solid state outputs. The Summit Audio 2BA-221 also features a stackable input design; multiple 2BA-221's can be linked together to form a modular mixing device with individual outs, inserts per channel, and a final vacuum tube gain stage. The Summit Audio 2BA-221's swept high pass filter, multiple simultaneous tube and solid state outputs, insert jack, and internal power supply makes the Summit Audio 2BA-221 a powerful tracking and mixing tool.
Full-Plate Voltage Matters
The proper amount of voltage to a tube and solid-state circuit can make all the difference in the quality of the sound. Nov 23rd 2012I don't consider this to be a Mic Pre. It is a DI that happens to be able to be used as a Mic Pre. It makes any guitar or bass you plug in to it sound clearer, more defined, and just better. Great for re-amping in that regard. The variable high pass filter is excellent. You don't hear it except as an absence of frequencies.

What ever you plug in 2BA-221 sound AMAZING!
Aug 5th 2010The 2BA-221, take my Newman U89i (natural sounding mic) to another level. Between all these mics I own (RODE NTK, AVANTONE CV-12, DRANGON FLY, ROCKET STAGE ONE, BABY BOTTLE, AUDIX CX-112) The U89i its a very difficult mic to get a the right sound of it. But 2BA-221 puts his MODJO on my U89i: First-it’s the variable impedance (if you have a bright sound you move the impedance and get rid of these freq) Second is the Solid State (clean and warm) , Third- it’s the Tube Sound (can be very subtle or very aggressive) Fourth- it’s the ability to blend between Solid and ad some Tube sound.

Exceptional pre-amp for everything you throw at it
Mar 28th 2008I've had a summit 2BA-221 for about a year and it is still my go-to preamp. I'm happy with anything going through this and still choose the Summit over a Portico 5012 or SSL VHD (unless I want the SSL's distortion). Very flexible, nice and clean if you want it or dial in a little warmth, every possible connection option you could imagine. I well engineered and great sounding preamp at an excellent price.
