The SPL BiG 500-Series Stereo Image Shaper is designed to enhance the stereo imaging of your mixes, in a unique intuitive way, all in a compact 2 slot 500 series format!

The SPL BiG 500-Series Stereo Image Shaper enlarges the stereo image in a new manner and opens up new creative ways of sound shaping. Intuitive with just three controls.

The On/Bypass switch activates (On) or deactivates (Bypass) the module. This allows you to quickly switch between processed and unprocessed signal. The signal LEDs (Sig) indicate whether an audio signal is present at the input of the respective channel. (With a level higher than -20 dBu). With the Range control, the frequency Range which should be processed can be selected. With the Stage control, the frequency range previously selected with the Range control can be moved backwards or forwards on the stereo stage. The huge BIGNESS control adjusts the intensity of the STEREO IMAGE SHAPING. The BASS/Off switch can be used to activate (BASS) or deactivate (Off) an additional bass boost following the BIGNESS section. The bass boost is performed by a passive filter implemented in a similar circuit to the one used in the AirBass function of the SPL IRON Mastering Compressor.

All SPL devices are developed not only according to plan, but also by ear. All important components are installed on the circuit boards using Through-hole technology. This way SPL ensures only the best sounding components!

Once you go BiG, you uhh... won't go back
    Ethan Waltz

It would be extremely hard to pry this unit from my cold dead hands as it does weird magical things you've always imagined in your mind when you think "better" or "bigger" or "more 3D" with just a few twists of a knob. Then, somehow, it collapses into mono without ruining the mix. I'd love to know how it works, but I am okay with not knowing just so there's one piece of actual magic in my world. Pull a card, any card, and buy the BiG.

I enjoy the 500 series platform so I decided to give this a chance after reading and checking out some videos on it. I am a fan of SPL and this fits nicely in my studio. You won't be disappointed, it does what it's supposed to do....Thanks again Frontend Audio.....

    No plugin equivalent

That should speak for itself. You buy this and you question using reverbs ever again. I spent months learning the ins and outs before I started using this on a commercial product. I suggest doing the same

    Big and Wide!
    Gerry Diwa

This is a super cool module for widening the stereo field, and more, also adds heft and depth. I have no regrets being an early bird on this one (got it at $649!).

    Amazing

You put this on your master buss and turn it on and you get that wow factor. I would liken it to the Oxford Expander plug in but better because it has that analog sound. It actually replaced the oxford expander plug in on my master buss. I will say it feels really lightweight which can fool you and make you think its not quality made compared to other modules but then you look inside and realize there is not that much in there in no transformer weight to it. I does n feel not quite as well built as my others but this is $499 and the ones I am comparing too are over $800. This will only be used for mastering so not used as much so I think it will last. I have had no issues with it thus far. I am not aware of any 500 series module that does what this does. More any plug in that sounds as good.
