Great product
Jun 5th 2013Quality of sound is amazing but, but the microphone is quiet and requires very high quality amplification, such as Focusrite Forte (75db). Personally, I do the volume at the time. But if you think you need more effort can get on top of the preamp Cloudlifter CL-1 is +25 db of ultra-clean gain

Favorite vocal mic!
Jun 24th 2012This mic is great for a lot of things but it is definitely a favorite for heavy/rock vocals!

took a while, but it's grown on me
May 16th 2012I bought into the hype but my first reaction was to return it. I thought it sounded, well, weird (sorry for the abstraction). Or, I had an expectation that was clouding my judgement? But I didn't return it and it has grown on me. I think that it took a while to embrace using a dynamic for vocals. Like everyone says, it needs a lot of juice. Biggest pro is that it takes not so great room acoustics nearly out of the equation (sort of). It's pattern is tight enough that you can sit right in front of your monitors and track vocals without headphones (if you're loose enough to accept a lil'bit of bleed). Oh, and the presence/treble boost is very usable.

More than a Classic
Apr 18th 2012When it comes to dynamic microphones, you can't do better than A Shure SM7b. Great sound, built like a tank and is my go to Voice Over microphone. Why? It makes me sound better! A must for any mic locker.

Smooth Mic, not for every voice.
Mar 27th 2012This "desert island" mic is as good as people say it is. Can be really smooth and has tons of character. Paired with a great pre, it opens up and has vibe. The only thing is, it's not suited for every voice, just as any other mic. Can be a little siblant but great for rock/rap type vocals. Great on guitar cab.

Great for male vocals
Sep 15th 2011Read the gear forums, and you see this mic + a Great River pre mentioned many times as the best combination for male rock vocals. I have a deeper male voice and I love this on my voice for folk/rock. For $350 it's a wonderful deal.

My Go-To Mic
Aug 23rd 2011This is my go-to mic for vocals. Very clean mic with low cut and presence boost. I prefer the "flat" settings that it comes in. This mic can definitely hold its own to mics ranging over $1k!!!

Excellent for Vocals and more!
Mar 30th 2011I've used this mic on Male Vocals, guitar amps, Podcasts, and snare drum. This is a workhorse mic and it's built like a tank. Gives your snare a very fat sound to my ears. Thicker and more detailed than the 57 on guitar cabs.

Nice... real, real nice
Mar 20th 2011This mic has served me well for recording vocals and acoustic and electric guitars. Nice, clear sound if you can give it enough gain! Highly recommended, and I think you'll find you use it a lot more often than any of your other mics in this price range...
