    SM-58
    Richard Ordoubegian

I have a couple of Shure Mics, 545, 58 & this ones my second 58, it's the O'l reliable! You can't beat the industry standard for pretty much any application!

An excellent microphone for my live vocal work. A great all round microphone that can take just about anything you can throw at it (very robust).

One of the best dynamic mics for live use
    R Shamshiri

These are great mics for live stage use. They can go through bumps and drops and will still perform without any quality loss. Nothing else beats this mic in its price range. As these are dynamic mics, they aren't the best for picking up guitars or other similar instruments. For proper vocals, you need to be very close to the mic, but they also zero out all the outside noise so your own is what is being picked up.

    Must have
    John Tuggle

This mic is simply a must have for any studio. Great for live vocals. Great for male vocals, snare, guitar amps, podcasts. I use this mic on all of my video lessons and it sounds great. Take of the pop filter and it's almost exactly like the 57.

    Decent General Purpose Mic
    Mathew C

Most useful for live or recorded vocals. The 58 can sometimes sound nasal and the highs can be harsh on certain sources. However, on certain voices they can sound very "mix ready" Not an amazing sounding mic imho, but it almost never sounds bad. Great for the price and certainly a studio staple.

    best live vocal mic...
    Thomas Szy

This thing is indestructible. I was singing at a party once with this mic, someone fell into the mic and it hit the wall, denting the wind screen. It didn't even phase the mic, and that was 4 years ago. Also works nicely in place where an sm57 would...i am currently using 2 58's on my tom mics of my drumset with great results. Can't go wrong here....

    Great Mic!
    Anonymous

It's been hailed as the standard for a reason. It may not produce the best or most natural sound for various purposes but it's definitely the most durable and user-friendly microphone I've used. Simply plug in and sing - I find it forgiving and gives my voice a nice bottom-end without being too muddy most of the time. It also has good mids and high but may need a little EQ for more articulation. It works pretty much effortlessly on most days. Overall, a good mic!

    King of stage mics
    Dusty Kerbs

A great sounding mic that will take all kinds of abuse. A go-to mic for live vocals, but warm and vibrant enough to use in the studio as well. The grille dents fairly easily. You can buy new ones for 5 bucks, but I prefer to leave the dents there. They add character.
