Acoustic Guitar Isolation
Jan 23rd 2023Bought recently from FEA for recording acoustic guitar. I had been trying to use my Sennheiser HD600's, but the open cups did not work well in that application. Too much bleed through. The HD280's have been perfect. Very isolated and now able to detect phase issues much more reliably - exactly what I was looking for & at $100! I will likely stick with the HD600's for mixing and general listening...more comfortable for long sessions.

Seinhauser Headphones
Mar 5th 2021Great product, great service, fair price! I am very happy with my purchase!

best under $100
May 16th 2014Great headphone. It works perfectly to check the stereo field of the mixes. If you mix on a laptop on the road it's excellent because it's foldable and easy to travel.

Decent headphones, but don't mix with them
Dec 6th 2011I got these because I needed a closed back pair of headphones for tracking. For that purpose they're great - the sound quality is nice and clear, and these definitely compete with other headphones in this price range. They're also great as all purpose listening headphones. When I first took them out of the box I thought that they looked stiff and uncomfortable but generally they feel just fine and I don't really notice them on my head. I wouldn't recommend mixing with them. Others might have different opinions, but I find that I don't hear enough bass so that if I attempt a mix with the 280s and then turn on the monitors the overcompensation is wildly apparent.

Nice!
Dec 5th 2011Great for tracking, not so much for mixing. Very isolated..no bleed whatsoever. Recommended.

Good rock solid headphone
Oct 31st 2010This is the second Sennheiser headphone that I've owned. My previous one that costed few hundred dollars broke in 3 years. But this one is so well built that nothing has fallen apart after 4 years of daily use. The only scratches that I get is from the middle part of the head band since I always retract the phone cups after each use. It has an excellent full range of sound, however, I find it a little too much bass for recording monitoring purpose. So I usually use it for movie watching since it's also got really good isolation from noises.

Excellent sound, excellent isolation
Jun 23rd 2010These are great to wear while tracking drums, vocals, or anything else where spill can be a problem. But they're also good on the bus with the iPod. These do fit tight, so they can be uncomfortable after extended use, but they attenuate outside sound extremely well. These are also fairly high output, so they're great with portable devices. Their sound is responsive and crisp, although the bass is a little weak. However, if you boost the bass, these will deliver it extremely well without distortion or nasty mud.

4 years and still great
Jun 23rd 2010The bass is nicely equalized for a set of headphones. That's usually the worst aspect of headphone monitoring, but these have it down. They've lasted me many years and they still work great!

very good
Jan 12th 2010The quality of sound that this headphones produce is really good. You will be able to hear all the tiny details of the sound and distinguish different instruments more realistic, like each of them has their own place in the audio picture. Panoramic sound. Very good isolate outer sounds!!! Yea, if you wear them lots of hours (which is inevitable because of the great sound) your ears might hurt a little bit, which is not cause of the shape, but more of the pressure they create to isolate outer sounds. I've red on forums for other models and brands which were more uncomfortable, me personally haven't tried others (except Philips SHP2000ND which become annoying after 30min. of use). But that's the only discomfort they may cause, as for the upper part (which is replaceable) is very comfortable. Great bass, crystal hight and again great detail in sound! Folding them in several different ways is what differs them from other models-very practical. All in all-great price&quality. I love them.
