great mic for the money
Jun 23rd 2010been using a pair of these for about a year and half... They are surprisingly versatile. I absolutely love them a room mics (and the polar pattern options help in you are in a MS or blumlein mood...) Wonderful on female vocalists as well - it has won a shocking amount of shoot outs against u89s, u87s, c414s, tlm103s and many other large diaphragm condensers (be it those aren't tube mics... but still pretty darn comparable budget wise). Great tube mic for the money IMO blows many of the tube rode mics out of the water

Apr 13th 2006Every thing an LDC should do this does extremely well. For me, a female vocal is often a difficult track. I just finished a project with a very picky bitc-er-lady and she was happy with the Z5600a's sound @tracking and the mix stage.This is my fourth project with this lovely Diva. and she has never been easy(to record). This mic with my Phoenix drs2 IS world class audio! No apologies, no excuses. It is the RIGHT tool!!! Thank you Warren and Shane.
