The Roswell Delphos II Microphone provides the natural sound that we have come to love and expect from Roswell mics, but with a slightly richer, fuller sound. This makes the Delphos perfect for applications where you want a workhorse mic that provides a bit of a lively vibe.

The Roswell Delphos Microphone is a premium all-purpose studio condenser, featuring unhyped and natural frequency response, very high sensitivity, and very low self-noise.The Roswell Delphos uses a highly optimized transformerless circuit, which provides a pristine signal path. The microphone's circuit boards are manufactured and populated in the US, using the finest components sourced from around the world, including low-noise NOS transistors and imported European capacitors. The two switches located on the front of the microphone provide pattern control (Cardioid/Omni) and pad (-10dB).

Each Delphos is assembled in California, manually "burned in," and extensively tested after manufacturing to ensure the best possible performance. The microphone is painted in California with a 3-stage enamel finish. The color is dark blue metallic. The ROSWELL logo nameplate is embossed brass. Roswell has created a new shockmount for the Delphos. Its cut-away face allows the microphone to be easily positioned close to a singer or instrument without hardware standing in the way. This allows you to take advantage of the microphone's natural proximity effect.

What We Think

avatar

The Roswell Delphos II continues Roswell’s streak of making microphones with real personality. While using it in the studio, what stood out immediately was how different its vibe is compared to the Mini K47 or the Aurora. The Delphos feels a bit more sensitive and energetic, giving the sound a sense of life and motion that’s hard to miss. There’s a fuller low-mid response, a little more electricity in the upper mids, and an overall bump in midrange presence that gives the Delphos a distinctly vintage feel. The clarity has a very “’70s” character to it — warm and full, but still articulate in a way that feels musical rather than modern or clinical. Switching to omni opens things up even more, adding space and depth, but that core character is still very much there. We’ve found the Delphos II to be a great fit for acoustic instruments, especially in bluesy, folky, or classic rock contexts, where tone and feel matter as much as detail. It’s also proven to be a very impressive vocal mic, bringing warmth and character without getting in the way. If you’re after a microphone with a little soul and a lot of vibe, the Delphos II is an easy one to recommend.
