Just type what you’re looking for and the browser will give you suggestions or use the Category and Tag buttons to filter your way to a new sound.
Tag, you’re it!
All content in Reason is now categorized and tagged to let you explore sounds in a whole new way. That includes all soundbanks, all Reason Studios devices, and all Sound Packs. Over 20 years of sound design for you to use and abuse. Anything that isn’t already tagged by us can of course be tagged by you.
Sequencer upgrade
The sequencer has been split into two. With the new Edit Area it’s easy to get down and dirty with the details in your music without losing your way in the arrangement. Together with several new workflow improvements, improved zooming, layout changes, and easy access to editing features—the upgraded sequencer makes it effortless to make your music sound like you.
It’s got the look
Reason 13 doesn’t just sound good, it also looks good. Together with the sequencer the entire Reason interface has been updated. It might not necessarily improve your music, but it will make it easier to find your way around.

Wow
Jul 20th 2017Finally Propellerhead adds VST hosting. I have used Reason since its early days over a decade ago. Previously I had to use Logic Pro X alongside but now that VSTs are supported I can finally sleep at night. It's the perfect sequencing DAW out there as I have tried many many DAWs. Nothing in my opinion comes close in the production world. I can do my preproduction all the way to mastering without moving back and forth between DAWs. Yes there's room for improvement but this is the right time to make the switch as I expect nothing but perfection from Propellerhead in the next version. The company actually listens to us consumers. Very happy with it. 5/5 stars on the next version for sure.

It's time to be Reasonable
Mar 4th 2008I've demoed Reason 1, 2 and 3. Pretty cool. But version 4 brings 2 vital ingredients: Thor and the arpeggiator. Thor is a massive synth that's kind of a modular synth without the patch mess and a hell of a lot easier to get going - and more powerful due to it's i/o capabilities. No more excuses - this thing can make sounds you've never heard before, but are usable. Used in conjunction with a wicked arsenal of fx and samplers, there are few limits to what you can get - and the combinator makes it manageable. If you are a preset whore like I am when a deadline looms, all the bases are covered, and I found it just as fast as Cubase and a good VSTi - but Reason is easier to add fx and routing to. The arpeggiator is even cooler than any I have encountered on a physical synth. With a tiny bit of work you get rolling notes gracefully streaming in all directions, but locked in tempo and sounding like I know what I'm doing.
