simply great
Jan 22nd 2016got this to complement the isa1 and auteur... always interested in seeing the new stuff plus it was cheap as hell and i needed more pres for the drums... anyway i found this comparing to stuff a lot more expensive.... not much color to the sound just beautiful god given gain... pair it with an st55 or an aphex 215 and you got yourself a great recording setup for anything from acoustic to guitar cabs (aphex sounds especially nice on hardcore, the low end just bumps) the st55 is even better than my k5 for hiphop but can't touch the sparkly notes needed for jazz and rnb... just remember you will never find a unit that does everything well just work at it and check gearslutz.com... anyways i recommend this for anybody looking for a pre and doesn't want to spend more than 5, because pretty much anything under about a grand sounds the same (maybe expect the arts, which are pretty good to my ears with switched tubes)

Top Notch Customer Service
Mar 30th 2011Never worked with pre-amps so don't know if it's technically good or not. What I do know is that the customer service here at FEA is excellent. I explained my current set up, what I was thinking of getting and asked for advice on the best way to go. Ryan explained why in the context of my current set up, he considered this particular unit more suitable to something (more expensive) I had in mind and I believe he has steered me in the right direction with this purchase.

Great little thing for the price!
Feb 11th 2011This little preamp has worked very good for me in the past 2 years. Gives a nice character to your mics or instrument. I like the fact that is very simple, has everything you really need for a preamp, it's very solid and the tube sounds great. I can tell the difference between my interface preamp and this one. For the price, in my opinion is the best. You can always change the tube if you don't like the one that comes with it or if you want to try new sound. I recommend it.
