Drum Overheads
Apr 30th 2017I have been using these for many years as drum overheads and they never let me down. Very easy to work with as they capture an nice sound without the need for much EQ. It would be nice if they had a shockmount but for the price you can't go wrong.

Go-to mic for drum overheads
Jun 2nd 2011The oktava MK-012 has become my go-to mic for drum overheads. These mics are found in many high end studios, and for good reason: they deliver superb sound on almost any source. You can use them for drum overheads, close miking of drums, acoustic guitars, vocals--you name it. The screw-on capsules, pads, and low-pass filters are also a nice feature that eliminate the need for switches on the mics.

Recording my Taylor Guitars.
Apr 12th 2011Great recording mic through a Boss digital 8 track. Lots of sound quality volume without having to push the electronics to the point of amplifying RF noise. The cardioid lobe is just perfect to pick up a dueling duet. The wind hoody keeps it clean. Feeding it through a Marshall AS50D (need the phantom power!) has it producing a bit more low end than desirable, but it generally still reproduces what it is fed! Really booms out with the reverb cranked up. Kinda wish I had picked up a matched pair! Joe
