The Genelec 8050B Studio Monitor is found is recording studios all over the world. The 8050 offers superb audio performance and is one of the world’s most desired active studio monitors!

Found in studios where only the best is good enough, the 8050B represents a class-leading balance of extraordinary SPL output, an expansive dynamic range and an intensely detailed, transparent performance. A truly professional tool, the 8050B is most at home in large facilities, world-renowned mastering suites and broadcasting hubs of the world. Nevertheless, it still exhibits the striking good looks, rounded edges and colour-free, accurate reproduction of the rigid all-aluminium Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE™).

Precise on- and off-axis frequency reproduction is guaranteed by the Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW™), while broad low-frequencies and high SPLs are delivered with a flow-optimised internal curved reflex tube and a maximised internal volume. Finally, at the end of the session the 8050B saves your studio money by automatically entering an environmentally friendly, power-saving standby mode, courtesy of Genelec Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS™) circuitry.

    Opals to Genes

    Back in November of 2015 I ordered two Event Opal monitors. Unfortunately, the Opals were not in stock and after several attempts to get them delivered to FrontEnd I was informed that I may never receive them. Alan Moon worked closely with me to get me quality replacements; the Genelec 8050Bs. These are more expensive than the Opals, but given the long delay and hassle with getting the Opals, Alan convinced me to try the Genelecs. Although it took a long time to finally get some monitors, I am very satisfied with them and the customer service provided by Alan. Cheers, Jim Young

The Genelec 8050 Studio Monitor is the modern classic 2-Way 8-inch studio monitor. Having inspired numerous copies from it's predecessor, the 1031A, Genelec sought to produce a better and more perfect monitor built to utilize the best construction techniques available as well as put several new cutting edge developments from Genelec to work. The most impressive thing about Genelecs - aside from their stunning sound quality - is the consistency of sound between each model offered. So, if your commercial studio has a pair of Genelec monitors in place, they're instantly going to be comfortable for visiting engineers. In fact, the 1031A became a de facto studio standard in the late 1990s through early 2000s, for this very reason. And the 8050 and its fancy brother - the 8250, and now the 8350 SAM Monitor - bear the standard moving on further into the 21st century. Once you do your first mix with the Genelec 8050s, you'll understand why some of the best ears in audio insist upon them for every project!
