The Electro Voice 635A Handheld Dynamic Microphone is a classic ENG microphone designed for professional applications. The high output level and low sensitivity to mechanical shock makes the 635A an excellent mic for interviews and for pass-around use in audiences.
The Electro Voice 635A Handheld Dynamic Microphone is the most popular ENG (electronic news gathering) mic in the world. It delivers great sound and is known as “The Buchanan Hammer”—a nod to EV’s ancestral Michigan home—for its rugged durability. The Electro Voice 635A Handheld Dynamic Microphone has an omnidirectional polar pattern that prevents the user from sounding "off mic" and practically eliminates plosives and other proximity effects thanks to it's built in shock mount and pop filter.

Vibe for days
Jan 18th 2022At least one 635 makes an appearance on every session I do. These dynamic omni's can take a high SPL, and their not-so-sublte high-end roll off give them a super unique character. Great on snare/toms for a nice open sound and heavy distorted electro guitars for added weight without harshness. The high-end roll-off also lends itself well for using them as crushed room or mono kit mics for drums.
