New Avid S1 Control Surface
By Front End Audio on Oct 25th 2019
Avid has announced their new S1 Control Surface, slated for a December 2019 launch. The new S1 Control Surface is design to combine power and flexibility in a compact footprint, making it perfect for smaller studios, as well as expansion (up to four S1 controllers can be connected together). As Avid puts it:
“While Avid S1 fits easily between your display and keyboard, it packs a lot of mixing power into its small surface. From motorized faders and knobs that respond to your touch, to fast-access touchscreen workflows and Soft Keys that enable you to perform complex tasks with a single press, S1 provides the speed and versatility to accelerate any music, audio post, or video project. “
The touchscreen applications of the S1 come from you using an app on your iPad, and mounting the iPad (sold separately – of course), to the top mounting point on the S1 surface. This combined with the OLED track displays on the S1, as well as the color coding, EUCON connectivity protocol, the touch sensitive controls (faders and rotary encoders), (100mm) motorized faders, and expansion capabilities, maked the Avid S1 a wonderful tool for any audio/video studio/setup.
