The Beyerdynamic MC930 Microphones are a matched set of small diaphragm condenser microphone which provide an enormous versatility due to its neutral sound and accurate design. Perfect for stereo recording of miking choirs, orchestras and solo instruments.
Caution: DO NOT buy the Beyerdynamic MC 930 if you dislike detail and clarity unlike most small diaphragm condenser microphones! Seriously...this is one serious performer with very nice off axis response and more detail than you may be used to. Overheads, choirs, room mic'ing, acoustic instruments, vocals...you name it and the MC930 delivers. Beyerdynamic is the "other" German mic company (that doesn't require the sale of your first born child!) with superior sound.
A flexible double act: The stereo set includes a matched pair of M 930 small membrane true condenser microphones. These microphones can be used for high-quality stereo recordings using the XY or ORTF techniques. Made by hand at the company headquarters in Heilbronn, Germany, the excellent craftsmanship of these microphones makes them reliable companions in the studio and live on stage.
A matched pair
At the end of the production process, the microphones are individually measured and then matched in pairs. A print-out of the measurement curves is included with your purchased stereo set.
Natural, authentic sound
The MC 930 true condenser microphone has a natural, balanced sound. Thanks to its detailed bass response and high-resolution trebles, the MC 930 is perfect for use with a wide range of different sound sources. Whether for acoustic guitars, piano, hi-hats, overhead, choirs, orchestras, vocals or solo instruments of all kinds – the MC 930 is impressive when used with almost any sound source.
As easy as flipping a switch
Thanks to its switchable attenuation (-15 dB), the MC 930 can also be used with loud instruments. Disruptive bass frequencies and low-mid frequencies that are caused, for example, by impact sounds or proximity effects, can be minimised by the switchable low-cut filter of 6 dB/octave at 250 Hz. This microphone works with 11–52 V phantom power.
Fast, faster, MC 930
The MC 930 includes a handmade true condenser capsule. The gold-vapourised diaphragm used in this microphone has excellent vibration and impulse behaviour. This makes signals sound natural and precise throughout the session. The excellent transient response allows percussive sounds to be reproduced extremely quickly.
Powerful for use with audio interfaces and mixing consoles
The MC 930 has one of the most powerful outputs (30 mV/Pa) among comparable microphones. This is a huge advantage, because it requires very little amplification.
A cardioid pattern with specific advantages
The MC 930 boasts an almost frequency-independent cardioid polar pattern. This means it prioritises sound from the front over sound from the sides. When it comes to sound from the back, the cardioid pattern offers the best possible attenuation. This means that this microphone is less susceptible to crosstalk, i.e. from other nearby sound sources. Thanks to all of these features, the MC 930 can be used in the studio as well as live on stage.
Quality Made In Germany
Handmade in Germany to a high quality standard, the MC 930 true condenser microphone is distinguished by the workmanship that beyerdynamic is known for. Acoustically relevant components such as the true condenser capsule, the system suspension and the counter electrode are all produced in-house. This unique process allows us to produce products of consistently high quality and makes each MC 930 one of a kind.

Best SDCs for the money
Mar 2nd 2021I've used most of the high-end modern SDC's (KM-184's, C-451B's, Josephson's, Peluso's, etc), and I can honestly say that these sound at least as good for a lot less money. I would be happy to see these in any mic locker in any studio for any situation.

Very detailed, balanced, deep, and accurate pair
Oct 2nd 2015Although I ordered these for acoustic instruments primarily, it was going to be a bonus if I also liked them for Drum OH's. Well, they found a surprise use in a snare drum shootout tonight, and I am now switching from two separate dynamic mics to this MC930 pair on top/bottom for what is the fullest, most detailed, articulate, balanced, and natural sound I have ever gotten on snares! Not only that, but these mics give me my best hi-hat and kick drum rejection of anything I've ever tried. I may have to buy a second pair to use as Drum OH's! Can't wait to try them on acoustic piano.

Wow, nice.
May 14th 2011I've recorded a particular school choir in many venues (including a number of Italian cathedrals; St. John the Divine cathedral in New York - 8 full seconds of natural reverb - go visit it if you can, especially if someone is singing, which happens often; and a worldwide choir competion in Wales). These remote venues called for my Sony PCM-D50 field recorder, and I've always been amazed how well it did. The stereo mics were wired to a decent Korg multitrack at my first use. I thought I'd some difference, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The sound was rich, clear, and detailed. I was close enough to the choir (about 5 ft above and slightly out from center, angled down and back) and the mics rejected enough audience noise such that there are only a couple times I can even hear the audience. A very impressive first trial. I can't wait to get these in the "studio" (actually a school choir room).

Exceptional Microphones
Feb 9th 2011I have been using these mics for acoustic guitar and drum OHs. I find them to be extremely sensitive and detailed with a very smooth and even midrange. Lots of "air" without being overly bright or harsh. Picked up the harmonic content of the acoustic guitar beautifully. Drum overheads sounded very full and the mics rejected room noise in a predictable manner consistent with my placement. Very useful low cut and pad switches. Also, the mic sounded great on a male vocalist with a somewhat breathy voice.

Best SC Mic
Dec 23rd 2010Dollar for Dollar, you cannot compare these mics to anything. The best $1,000 I ever spent. I've tried AKG, Shure, and Schoeps in my home studio The AKG 451 are a good mic. Very comparable as overheads. The MC930 blows them away on acoustic instruments-MC930 +1 Shure Sm81 is not a good Overhead mic. It's OK on acoustic instruments but completely useless as an overhead. Tinny and harsh-MC930 +2 Shoeps are awesome, but I honestly prefer the MC930 for rock. The Schoeps are too soft-MC930 +3
