The BAE DMP 1073 Desktop Microphone Preamp is a portable desktop preamp and DI that pays homage to the classic 1073 preamp heard on countless hits!
The 1073 DMP features the same preamp and the same St Ives Carnhill transformers as in the legendary 1073 and 1084. The DMP 1073 comes standard with the 'Bootsy Collins' mod which consists of a Jensen DI transformer to create the first 1073 direct box. The 1073 DMP features include two DI thrus, phase reverse, 48V for phantom power, a built in PSU for extra portability and the same hand-wired modular design that BAE is known for.

Great "portable" preamp
Feb 12th 2025The BAE 1073 is one of my favorite preamps. The sound is full, creamy, and has good but controlled highs. Great for pairing with bright mics like the Manley Ref C or the Sony C800g. The only downside is that this specific model has a fixed 1200ohm impedance, there’s no 300ohm option. That’s the one design flaw in my opinion, because sometimes impedance switching makes all the difference when chasing a specific sound. It’s worth checking out the 500 series version, which does have an impedance selector.
