Good 57 Alternative
Feb 25th 2023This mic is not better or worse the a 57 in my opinion. I got it to try on several different sources and it is admirable on all but not notable on any. It works great, it is solid and it looks the part.

New Snare Mic
Mar 26th 2014I was looking to have another mic to use on snare when the 57 and MD431 weren't cutting it. The ATM 650 was a pleasant surprise. When I saw that it was made in China I was a little concerned, but the mic sounded great on 3 different snares in a session. I compared it to a 57 on electric guitar and it sounded a little thinner and slightly brighter. It would be great on a guitar amp that has a tad too much bass. Go Audio Technica. I have 6 or 7 Audio Technica mics and I love them all.
