The ADK Vienna 12 T-FET Microphone brings a brilliant shimmering clarity to your tracks. The lifted top and upper mids provide a clear, detailed, and airy presence, that allows your tracks to cut through - yet maintain a natural and musical sound. All this is supported by a full mid/low mid, and a rolled off bottom that's perfect for stringed instruments, drum overheads, and vocals.
The ADK Vienna 12 T-FET Microphone is the most brilliant of all ADK Custom Shop FET microphones. It has an almost effervescent high-end. It is a tri-polar microphone with selectable Cardioid, Figure-8, and Omni pickup patterns. The Vienna 12 model is based on a unique FET circuit that saturates gradually (unlike most condenser microphones which tend to clip abruptly). The microphone boasts an Australian-designed capsule, British Oxford transformer, hi-end Phillips Norelco uber-FET. manufactured with methods and materials usually found with hi-fi equipment, including even a $6 resistor - expensive considering most resistors cost just a few pennies each. It took three microphone experts including a PhD in Physics, a design genius in Belgium and a 40 year-old microphone collection to create it! Add two-way attenuation pads (8 and 16 dB) to enable end-user to tailor the dynamic behavior of the microphone to the situation and obtain new textures, with rarely the need for outboard processors or even equalization.

Mic does not let me down
Feb 12th 2015The sound of this mic is as promised by Ryan, smooth top end with good clarity for vocals, particularly good for singers whose voice is somewhat dull. Also sounds great on acoustic instruments. The abundant accessories supplied (mic cable, shock mount, pop filter, wind screen, mic clip, case) are a nice addition. The pop filter is pretty standard, nothing spectacular but serviceable. The shock mount is well made and usable. My only quibble is cosmetic, the ADK "badge" was imprecisely glued on, starting to peel off. Looked kind of cheesey. I would recommend leaving it off, or having it embossed on the metal body. Overall this a great value, esp. at the sale price. It provides a nice complement to my U87a and Rode K2, giving me some additional tonal variety.
