The ADK Hamburg 67 T-FET Microphone is a quintessential vocal microphone. The full forward mids give warm dimension, the silky and airy top end provides pleasant detail, and the bottom end is full, but with a slight roll off that perfectly rounds the sound out (without losing depth). Not only does the Hamburg 67 stand out as an stellar vocal mic, it also sounds amazing on acoustic guitars.

The ADK Hamburg 67 T-FET Microphone has the early 60's vibe - almost imperceptibly mellow. It scoops nasal, sibilance issues in a subtle way. The Hamburg 67 is based on a unique FET circuit that saturates gradually, so there is no abrupt clipping, like with most standard condenser mics. The Hamburg 67-T-FET boasts an Australian Designed Capsule, British Oxford Transformer, Hi-End Phillips Norelco Uber-FET. The Hamburg 67-F-FET is manufactured with Hi-End Methods and Materials, including a $6 Resistor! It took three microphone experts including a PhD in Physics, a Design Genius in Belgium and a 40 year-old microphone collection (with many much older microphones) to create it! Add Two-Way Attenuation Pads (8 and 16 dB) to enable end-user to tailor the dynamic behavior of the microphone to the situation and obtain new textures, with rarely the need for outboard processors or even EQ. The Hamburg 67-T is a tri-polar microphone with selectable Cardioid, Figure-8, and Omni pickup patterns.

Good mic, nice capsule. Figure 8 rolls off, like a ribbon.

    Perfect for the Right Voice

I have 20+ years recording experience as a singer songwriter. My home setup is solid (Neve/Acme Lunchbox, Focusrite Clarett, Logic) but I’ve never had the perfect mic for vocals. I’ve tried many budget large diaphragms under a grand and wound up getting a Slate mic. The Slate led me to the 251 sound (I am a male who sings in upper register and love the sweet presence of that mic). I was looking for a good 251 clone and stumbled across the ADT Cremona. After comparing samples online, I opted for the 67 because I thought it suited my range a bit better. It seemed a touch less airy. I love it. Sounds exactly like me but better. Smooth on top without sacrificing detail. Classic tone that cuts through with style. It may not be the most versatile mic of all time, but if you are a tenor male singer, listen to the demos of this mic and give it a shot. It’s got the magic.

This mic come with everything you'll possibly need! Shockmount, Windscreen, Pop Screen, Pouch for the mic, flight case. This is indeed a very nice feature. On to the sound, having only used it on male/female vox, ac guitar, I find it very pleasing overall. Low end might not be as accurate as I'd hope for, while the top end has a thing in the 9-12k that annoys me slightly, it is still a very good mic for the price. It is definitely miles up from the lower end mics like the MXL/CAD!

What We Think

From Blues, to Hip Hop, to Metal, the ADK Hamburg 67 T-FET is the go to vocal mic. Male or Female, this mic is where it is at. Overall a smooth rich character, with a detailed and airy top, balanced warm mids, and a low end with depth. After using the Hamburg, I quickly realized that my go-to vocal mic (for many years) was no longer going to cut it, and the Hamburg was where I needed to be. Consistently this is reaffirmed with the feedback I get from other musicians and engineers. The Hamburg quickly becomes a loved center piece of vocal chains.
