The Neumann TLM 102 Microphone is the Neumann’s most affordable compact studio microphone designed to handle extreme SPLs without distortion. With very low self-noise, and integrated pop shield, the TLM 102 offers slight treble boost for brilliant sound. Perfect for vocal and instrumental recordings.

The Neumann TLM 102 Microphone processes extreme volume and jumps in dynamics without distortion. That makes it an excellent choice for miking loud amps and drums. It reproduces sound pressure levels of up to 144 dB (e.g. very loud trumpet at a distance of 10 cm) with great clarity: open, detailed, with powerful bass and refined treble.

Small, Smart & Powerful
The Neumann TLM 102 brings Neumann quality to even the smallest studio. Like its more expensive siblings, the Neumann TLM 102 combines technical excellence with a beautifully balanced sound for silky vocals, crisp guitars and powerful drums. With its cardioid pattern and an integrated pop screen, the Neumann TLM 102 is a joy to use, even for novices.

The Perfect Introduction to the Neumann Sound
The Neumann TLM 102 is Neumann’s most affordable large diaphragm condenser microphone. And, of course, it is a true Neumann, designed and manufactured in Germany with great attention to every detail. Compared to more expensive Neumann microphones, the Neumann TLM 102 is reduced in size and features, but Neumann would never compromise on sound quality. Despite its affordable price, the Neumann TLM 102 has a very attractive look with a gleaming chrome ring between a classic tapered headgrille and the famous Neumann diamond.

Smart Looks – Smart Engineering
The Neumann TLM 102 sounds as smart as it looks! Its newly developed large diaphragm condenser capsule has all the qualities that made Neumann microphones the first choice in recording studios all over the world: a clear and focused sound with superb definition. Due to its remarkably linear response across the entire midrange, the Neumann TLM 102 is able to capture the authentic character of any voice or instrument, enhanced by a slight lift around 10 kHz for silky highs. The Neumann TLM 102 has gorgeous bottom end, too, enriched by the well-controlled proximity effect of a large diaphragm cardioid capsule. A joy for every singer! The Neumann TLM 102’s technical performance is impressive, too. Its self-noise of only 12 dB-A is much lower than the ambient noise in even a very quiet room. At the same time, the Neumann TLM 102 is capable of handling extreme sound pressure levels of up to 144 dB free from distortion. As a member of the TLM range, the Neumann TLM 102 is equipped with a transformerless output stage, which means: powerful bass, even at highest signal levels, and a very direct sound without transmission losses.

Big Sound for Small Studios
Due to its enormous dynamic range of 132 dB and a remarkably uniform cardioid pickup pattern, the Neumann TLM 102 is a very easy to use microphone for home and project studios, and also for demanding live applications. Its uncolored sound and fast transient response make the Neumann TLM 102 an excellent choice for male and female vocals as well as a wide range of instruments, such as acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar and double bass, drums, percussion, brass, saxophone. The Neumann TLM 102 is a true workhorse for any small studio!

Best Neumann you can buy for less than a U87
    Jordan Voth

Skip the TLM49, the TLM103 and any other Neumann badged mics under three grand. This is the winner, much nicer presence peak than the 103. Small profile and high SPL let it go where other LDC's can't. If you're brave put it on snare. This is has been my go to vocal mic for the past few years and I don't regret selling the others.

TLM 102 Has All That Neumann Sweetness
    David Beneke

I was quite surprised at the way the TLM 102 sounds for voice over, in a very happy way. The TLM 103 never worked on my voice, a low baritone, it, I'm sorry to say had sibilance issues with a brittle high end. Not true with the TLM 102, which seems to be tuned to voice work. It has a vintage warmth of Neumanns of old, with flattering mids and a silky top, sibilance issues, gone. It's a beautiful sounding mic, no frills, a non invasive size and takes compression and EQ like a champ. It does well on a low to medium priced preamp (Focusrite Scarlett), but where you really hear it's sweetness is with a neutral pre, say the Red Net preamps in the Focusrite Forte, think Grace m101. Here, the mic is very balanced, with just the right amount of warmth. A perfect Voice Over mic, and highly recommended!

    EXCELLENT Mic If Used Properly!!!
    Domingo Betances

If used properly this is a EXCELLENT mic. It reproduces a polished sound. I recorded some Rap & Sung vocals & the results were EXCELLENT & needed NO eq whatsoever. With that said, just for testing/experimental purposes I messed around with some eq on the recorded material & everything responded well to it. Regarding "If used properly", the mic is VERY sensitive to proximity, so a minimal distance of 6-9 inches from the source would be ideal & maybe a slight of axis set up. FYI, I paired this mic with a Avalon V5 Preamp. As always thanks to my sales rep Ryan for his GREAT service & expertise!!!
