The Audix D6 Dynamic Microphone is right at home on kick drum. The tailored eq of the mic gives you a beefy low and low mid for all the weight and punch you want in a kick, with the upper mids give you a rounded by clear attack to cut through. The slightly scooped mids leave plenty of room for other instruments, making your kick mix ready from the mic, in the studio and on the stage.

The Audix D6 Dynamic Microphone is a lightweight, compact and easy to position, cardioid microphone, an excellent choice for miking instruments requiring extended low frequency reproduction such as kick drums, large toms and bass cabinets. The Audix D6's transformer less design, low impedance and balanced output allow for interference-free performance. The D6 Dynamic Microphone is designed, assembled, and tested by Audix in the USA.

The Audix D6 is a 'pre-EQ'd' microphone that has a wide mid-scoop around 600Hz and peaks around 63Hz and 5kHz. So, the D6 is not a flat-response microphone in the least; it is a purpose-built microphone designed to be unique. It really brings out the slap of the beater of a kick drum while also really hitting you in the gut with the lows. It really is perfect for the modern kick drum sound and excells when bringing out the 'click' on a bass track. In fact, the D6 has become one of my favorite ways to capture bass tracks now. It really gets the clarity of each note much like a high quality DI while also injecting the right amount of air on the track to naturally soften the transients. We happen to like it a lot on a snare drum since overheads can often get the mids of the snare and just need some highs and attenuated lows to emphasize the snare's presence and attack. It can be a 'splatt-y' sound, but we quite like it!
