The Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Headphones are semi-open studio headphones designed for use in mixing and mastering applications. The wide stereo image, neutral sound and the extremely high resolution make the Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Headphones a reliable benchmark-setter for studio use.
The Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Headphones boast extremely detailed resolution and very transparent sound. Designed for critical music and sound monitoring in an open environment especially for acoustic and classical music, the Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Headphones combine the advantages of open headphones with those of closed studio headphones. The improved systems of the legendary Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Headphones provide a high quality studio headphone with excellent analytical properties, especially for classical music.
Benchmark for Studio Sound
The wide stereo image, neutral sound and the extremely high resolution make the Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro headphones a reliable benchmark-setter for studio use. They are a recognised tool amongst sound enthusiasts and a loyal companion for producers. As stereo headphones they help professionals pick up on errors immediately making them ideal for mixing and mastering.
Top-Notch Impulse Response
The semi-open-back design means that these headphones offer unparalleled spaciousness. They reproduce audio tracks neutrally without changing the tone of the sound. This allows optimum vocal positioning in mixing and ensures every slightest nuance is transparently reproduced.
Extreme Comfort
The robust spring steel headband design ensures that the over-ear headphones offer a secure fit. The single-sided cable allows the headphones to be put on and taken off frequently without cables getting tangled, and soft, adjustable ear cups provide for added comfort.
Difference Compared to the DT 880 Edition Version
The Beyerdynamic DT 880 Edition headphones for use at home and the Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Studio Headphones: soundwise, both models are identical as they feature identically designed acoustic transducers. There are fundamentally two differences between the models. Firstly, the Edition models have a somewhat softer headband for enjoying music at home whereas the Pro headset has a slightly firmer fit. Secondly, the Edition models come equipped with a straight cable whereas the Pro models come with a coiled cable.

Sweet Cans!
Jun 16th 2017I keep coming back to Front End Audio because of their stellar product selection, great pricing and free shipping. I recently purchased the DT-880 Pros and what a difference they've made in my monitoring. I use them for a home-mixing alternative when I can't crank up my monitors and for DI recordings of guitars and bass. I don't have a ton of hours on them yet but so far they've been super comfy and sound great. They do need a bit of a push so I run them through a Presonus HP4 headphone amp between my interface and computer...no probs. So far? Love 'em!

So comfortable and open sounding!
Oct 27th 2016These are my favorite and mostly used headphones. I can wear them for 10 hours a day and not be bothered, as they fit over the ears and have soft replaceable velour circumaural ear pads. This is a semi-open studio headphone with a neutral sound to my ears. I use them mainly for monitoring my music creations, but they are great for all uses. They should last a very long time!

Really Smooth, Really Comfortable
Sep 15th 2012I have to say that all of the hype associated with the DT880 PRO headphones is true. They really do have a detailed yet smooth sound. Like the reviewer above, I use them as an alternative mix reference, but I also use them to make guitar patches for my Axe-FX, and for easy listening. These headphones do not have the aggressive treble response of my AKGs, but they are more musical and enjoyable. Finally, these headphones are very comfortable; the velvet ear pieces make wearing them for hours a breeze.

DT880 phones
Aug 13th 2010I own a pair of these and use them in a small commercial studio. Primarily I use them for an alternate reference on mixes. They are comfortable to wear for long periods. Certainly not recommended for tracking phones as they are semi-open and do not have a lot of isolation. Not what they were meant for. The sound is clear and does not break up at louder volumes. Good bass for headphones. If you had to mix only on headphones these would certainly be a choice. I don't recommend doing that but it is possible. They are expensive but worth it. Cheaper than some other options out there but hold their own against almost all options.
